How to Care for Vegetable Tanned Leather

All the Tuscan Bull products are 100% Natural, so they are not impervious to the elements! The biggest enemy is water and moisture. Make sure that your leather products do not get wet, and it is best to store in rooms with moderate humidity. If your product gets wet, simply blot with a dry soft cloth. You may notice a light stain or “water blister” but this should fade away when the leather fully dries.

Natural Veg tanned leathers will absorb the oils from your skin and over time with handling your natural product will not only continue to look good but also develop a develop a rich patina and get better with age and use– each one unique and telling its own story.

If you need to clean your product the best way is to use saddle soap (follow the directions closely!) and then apply a small amount of leather conditioner such as Filson’s, Lexol or Farnam to a soft damp cloth (again follow the directions closely) and rub into the leather in a circular motion. Once applied let dry and buff lightly with a clean, soft cloth. Never ever use solvents, harsh abrasive cleaners, or commercial soaps. You risk damaging the product and could remove the natural finish on the leather.

Light scratches and fingernail drags normally buff out easily with a soft cloth or even just by burnishing with your thumb.
